Philosophy-
We take a “whole child”
approach to learning and development. We take
the time to develop your child socially,
emotionally, cognitively and physically.
Children learn best in an environment that is
warm, loving and safe and Kids at Home provides
that atmosphere.
Curriculum-
In addition to having all the advantages of a
warm, home setting, your child will be walking
into his/her “classroom” to explore and discover
new ideas every day. The room is very child
centered and age appropriate w/ learning
activities available in the following areas:
language, reading, math and science, art and
sensory, dramatic play, blocks and manipulatives,
and computers. There will be opportunities for
group activities (such as morning circle time
where we learn about the calendar and weather,
sing, read and tell stories, conduct movement
activities, and build character development) and
for free exploration of the centers in the room.
School readiness skills are taught through
learning activities and play. Outside play is
essential for gross motor development and will
take place every day, weather permitting.
Nutrition-
Kids at home is a member of
the catholic charities food program. This
program is monitored by the state to ensure that
proper nutrition is provided for your child each
day. Good health and nutrition are essential
building blocks for a successful learning
environment.
Character Building-
Regardless of your religious affiliation, our
program offers to build character through
learning Christian principles with a program
called Godly Play. Godly play is used as a
non-denominational program that consists of
telling the stories in the bible that reflects
the traits that we all want to instill in our
children, i.e. honesty, trustworthiness,
patience, kindness, respect, responsibility,
compassion, dependability, forgiveness, being
positive and encouraging, and being a good
friend.
